Psychological Assessment

The blueprint for recovery

At our clinic, we believe that an effective journey toward mental wellness begins with a precise map. A Psychological Assessment (also known as Psychometry or Diagnostic Testing) is a sophisticated screening process that goes beyond surface-level symptoms. By using a combination of clinical interviews and scientifically validated techniques, we look deeper into the ‘psychodynamics’ of your mind. This allows us to determine the exact nature and severity of your condition, ensuring that the treatment plan we create is perfectly tailored to your unique needs.

Our Three-Step Diagnostic Process

To reach a scientific and reliable diagnosis, we follow a structured, compassionate methodology:

  1. Step 1: Comprehensive Case History

We begin with a detailed clinical interview that maps your story in context—onset, course of illness, stressors, and strengths. We explore your pre-morbid personality and day-to-day functioning so that later findings can be interpreted against the backdrop of who you are, not just the symptoms you carry today.

  2. Step 2: Mental Status Examination (MSE)

Through careful, structured observation and conversation, we assess mood, thought form and content, perception, cognition, insight, and judgement. The MSE gives a contemporaneous picture of how your mind is working in the room—complementing history with live clinical data.

  3. Step 3: Standardized Norm-Referred Testing

Where indicated, we add psychometric tools with known reliability and validity. Scores are interpreted against normative data to clarify severity, profile strengths and vulnerabilities, and support a diagnosis that is transparent, evidence-based, and useful for planning treatment.

A Note On Our Philosophy

The value of human contact sits at the centre of how we work. Psychological assessment is never only “data collection”—it is a careful meeting of minds in a room, where tone of voice, pace of speech, and plain honesty shape what can be understood safely and fairly. For that reason, we offer in-person testing at our clinic rather than remote substitutions, so that we can observe, clarify, and respond to you as a whole person—not as a set of scores on a screen.
